Concert Bands

At the conclusion of marching season, students form two wind bands - Wind Ensemble and Concert Band.  Any student may participate in the Concert Band; however, students who wish to be selected for the Wind Ensemble must prepare an audition based selected from the All-State audition excerpts.

Wind Ensemble

 The VVHS Wind Ensemble is the premier student wind band. Comprised of 40+ woodwind, brass and percussion players, this group has established a reputation of excellence. Since its conception in 2012, the Wind Ensemble has consistently received Division I ratings and each year has many students selected to participate in the New Mexico All-State Honor Bands and Orchestras. Students in this ensemble perform at  school concerts, the District Music Performance Assessment and Festival, the State Band Contest as well as National Festivals.  This group meets during zero hour period for elective credit.

Concert Band

The VVHS Concert Band is a student wind band, focusing on the fundamentals of high school band. Comprised of 60+ woodwind, brass and percussion players, this group has received Superior Ratings at the District and State level. The Concert Band focuses on refining instrumental playing skills and performing a diverse selection of quality band repertoire .  Students in this ensemble perform at  school concerts, the District Music Performance Assessment and Festival, the State Band Contest as well as National Festivals.  By participating in this ensemble, students will also have the opportunity to auditon for the New Mexico All-State Concert Bands and Orchestras.
